Kindness of strangers

Dear Spurtle

Good Samaritans exist!

One evening in June, I managed to leave my wallet on steps near the London Street Grocers.

A frantic search in increasingly unlikely places proved fruitless. My bank and the police were alerted, and I passed a decidedly restless night worrying about the situation.

At noon next day, the police at Fettes Lost Property rang to say my wallet had been handed in to Gayfield Police Station.

On collection, all the contents were intact. The finder(s) preferred to remain anonymous.

In our age of recurring anxiety, an act of sheer human goodness such as this is salutary and beyond price.

Bless you, whoever was responsible.
