'Controversial and a tad inflammatory'

Dear Spurtle

Re: Leith Walk Hustings coverage (Breaking news, 20.4.12)

Balanced and entertaining, and about right, but a few observations.

1) Your correspondent's remark about the Lib Dem being the best dressed person in the room was controversial, and a tad inflammatory, I thought. I had a very nice corduroy jacket on. With stylish jeans. Or a chic 70s leather jacket which a Beltane Fire Dancer recently described (I believe without irony) as cool. I don't quite recall which I was wearing on the night. I also thought the woman Spurtle team member whose name escapes me just now, was quite chic. I could mention others like my mate Mike, who has long done a nice line in West Coast cool.

2) I googled Jimmy McIntosh and easily found that he is, I think, Jimmy McIntosh MBE, the chair of Partners in Advocacy and a very interesting disabled rights activist. I checked a while back with a contact and he is indeed standing. Somewhere. Fair play to have a pop at him for not turning up, but it wasn't that difficult to find out who he is.

Yours sincerely

Nick Gardner
Labour candidate, Leith Walk (Ward 12)

Spurtle response: (1) We don't recall what you were wearing either, which rather proves the point. (2)  'I think' ... 'Somewhere': identifying this candidate from the host of Jimmy and James McIntoshes online is not straightforward. We have now been sent contact details by a third party and have linked to his election poster from this list of candidates.
