CHORUS OF SUPPORT FOR WAVERLEY CARE

Pilrig Chorus – the mixed voice adult community choir based at Pilrig St Paul's Church – is raising money for charity, and wants help from across Broughton and beyond.

On Sat. 1 October, 2–6pm, they're inviting locals of all abilities to join in singing through some of the finest choral works ever written. Classics will include choruses from Haydn’s 'The Heavens are Telling', Handel’s 'Messiah' as well as Parry’s 'I was Glad'  (performed at various celebrity dos in London over the years).

Martin Ritchie, Director of Music at Pilrig St Paul's, regards music as an excellent way of bringing people together. 'Singing is a fun activity which develops skills and builds self-confidence,' he writes, and for this reason it is also a very apt way of raising funds for Waverley Care.

The Mansfield Place-based charity cares for and supports people affected by HIV and Hepatitis C. Much of their focus is on confronting and overcoming the social stigma attached to these conditions. Joyful, public outpourings in support of the organisation's work are therefore just the ticket.

Involvement costs £10, which includes music hire and refreshments. To sign up or find out more, call Martin Ritchie on Tel. 07984 466855 or email martinsritchie@googlemail.com
