ATTEMPTED MURDER IN SPEY TERRACE

Police in Edinburgh are investigating after an attempted murder at the weekend. We quote in full: 

The incident happened around 4.20pm on Sunday 16th June at an address in Spey Terrace.

A 16-year-old male sustained an injury to his chest after he was attacked by two men within a property.

He was taken to the Royal Infirmary of Edinburgh for treatment and inquiries are ongoing to identify those responsible.

TEENAGER HURT AFTER RACIAL ABUSE

Police in Edinburgh have issued a press release and CCTV image of a man they wish to trace as part of their ongoing enquiries concerning an assault on a teenager. We reproduce their statement below in full.

The incident took place around 11am on Thursday 25th April in Montgomery Street, near the junction with Hillside Street.

Racial abuse was directed at a group of teenagers before a 16-year-old boy was struck on the head, resulting in injuries to his face.

ANNANDALE STREET CLOSED FOR SUSPICIOUS ITEM

Police in Scotland issued a statement this evening regarding the incident in Annandale Street this afternoon.

A spokesperson said: 'Police in Edinburgh were called to Annandale Street around 11.50am on Friday 1st March following a report of a suspicious item.

'A cordon was established as precaution while the EOD carried out an assessment of this.

'The item was found not to pose any risk to the public and the community are thanked for their co-operation.

POLICE SEEK HELP FROM PUBLIC

 INDECENCY OFFENCE ON GEORGE STREET 

Police in Edinburgh released a press release this morning. We reproduce it below unedited and in full.

Police in Edinburgh have released an image of a man that officers wish to trace in connection with an investigation into an indecency offence in the city centre.

The incident happened at around 11.30am on Saturday 26th January within a coffee shop in George Street.

POLICE ASK FOR PUBLIC'S HELP

Separate incidents on the same day have led to Edinburgh Police appealing for witnesses. 

The first (Incident no. 3698) happened on Monday 23 July, at around 7.25pm, when a female was struck by a male cyclist (perhaps in his 30s) on a pedestrian crossing between Gayfield Square and London Road. She was taken to hospital with a head injury. 

The cyclist stopped but did not leave contact details.

Police are keen to trace him.

ASSAULT ON BROUGHTON STREET

 POLICE SEEK HELP AND RELEASE IMAGE 

Police Scotland issued the following press notice today. We reproduce it unedited and in full.

Police in Edinburgh investigating a serious assault in the city centre have released an image of a man they believe may be able to help with their inquiries.

The incident took place around 7.50pm on Saturday 3 February near to the Phoenix Bar on Broughton Street.

A 51-year-old man was assaulted and sustained serious facial injuries.

COUNTER-TERRORISM EXERCISE STARTS TODAY

A major, multi-agency counter-terrorism exercise begins today in central and eastern Scotland and Northumbria.

What follows is quoted in full from a Police Scotland press release.

The exercise will begin near Edinburgh and will continue at smaller sites and individual properties across Scotland and the North East of England until 5 October.

Therefore, members of the public may notice increased emergency services activity in certain areas around Edinburgh, the Lothians, the East of Scotland and Northumbria.
