As you read this, advance copies of the May issue are already appearing across the barony like spring hares dodging buses on the A1.
Page 1 skips into action with fivefold bad news for anyone wanting a permanent home in the Greater Spurtleshire area. There follows some cheerier reportage about city-centre piracy and another starring role for the heart of the New Town.
Jaundiced of Claremont bounds off Page 2 spreading goodwill and happiness as usual on the candidates’ performances at the Edinburgh North Eastern & Leith hustings earlier this month. A street artist declines to comment. Coaches rumble at the sidelines. Oxidisation is in the eye of the beholder.
Book lovers bounce, hope springs, optimism reigns and records tumble on Page 3. There are two types of potential good news for the planet, a smell gone but not forgotten and a new place on Broughton Street to roll dice and have fun which doesn’t involve crossing the road blindfold. There may even be fresh opportunities for the walking wounded.
To conclude, at least one local is jumping for joy at restored vents off Gayfield Square (it takes all sorts), while others take heart at the return of superior dining to the lower slopes of Calton Hill and the future arrival of unsinkable sanitary rearrangements on the upper ones. History, Gaelic, smut and spillages conclude a Page 4 bereft of political advertisers. New or familiar faces may return in June.
In short (and occasionally very small print), Issue 361 contains most of what matters for everywhere between Stockbridge and Pilrig Street, York Place and Canonmills. You’ll find printed copies in shops, services, pubs, cafés and public libraries across the barony and beyond. Or you can download a colourful pdf from our website here after midnight on 1 May.
